Russian Noun

Здравcтвуйте ребята,, lesson for today is nouns and pronouns. There are many nouns and pronouns in Russian and there are several cases for it. Nouns in Russian has 3 genders, masculine, feminine and neuter. Maskulin usually ends with the consonant, feminine usually ends with a vowel –a or –я and neuter usually ends with a vowel –e or –o. when you make a sentence with noun, you must change the end of noun with a formula according to gender, we will talk about it in this lesson.

These are several examples of nouns:

1.     человек     man, person    masculine
2.     год     year    masculine
3.     время     time    neuter
4.     рука     hand, arm    feminine
5.     дело     business, affair, matter    neuter
6.     раз     time, once, since    masculine
7.     глаз     eye; sight    masculine
8.     жизнь     life    feminine
9.     день     day    masculine
10.     голова     head, mind, brains    feminine



Now, let’s start with simple sentences

Я студент (i am student)

Маша студентка (Masha is student)

Ты студент? (are you student)

Нет, я не студент (no, I am not student)

Sometimes “to be” in Russian is omitted, it is such like an informal speech.

I have said before that in Russian have three kinds of gender masculine, feminine and neuter. Maskulin usually ends with a consonant, feminine usually ends with a vowel –a or –я and neuter usually ends with a vowel –e or –o. These are the example:
Masculine паспорт (passport)
Турист (tourist)
Музей (museum)

Exception
Папа (father)
Дядя (uncle)
Дедушка (grandfather)
Мужчина (man)
Кофе (coffe)

Feminism виса (visa)
Россия (Russia)

Neuter утро (morning)
Имя (name)
Now let’s try with an example
Откуда вы? Where are you from
Мы из москвы we are from Moscow
Они из москвы? Are they from Moscow?
The dictionary form of Moscow is москва and it will change into москвы according to the case. There are 6 cases in Russian language Nominative, accusative, dative, genitive, instrumental and prepositional. We will learn this cases on the next lesson so stay tuned.
